| A common method of sending mail to an author is to send it in care of
his/her publisher. It involves double envelopes and a cover letter,
but it works, 'cause I've done it.
As far as I know, Piers Anthony still lives in Florida.

...Speaking of Xanth, how about some commentary on his
books? I, personally, like his Xanth novels but find the setting
too...well...simple, I guess. Don't get me wrong, his descriptions
are good, but the flora and Fauna are too fairy talish. I get the
impression that if I ever was to see Xanth, everything would be in
loud blaring colors. I like the Double exposure series much better
(Split Infinity,Blue Adept, Juxtaposition).
...just my opinion...

| Well, I really liked the first Xanth novel, A SPELL FOR CHAMELEON, but
had no interest in reading the rest. First of all, they're a type of
fantasy that just doesn't normally do much for me (the only reason I
read ASFC was because it was up for an award that year,* and I was
reading all the nominees so that I could vote). Most important, though,
was that I didn't think that he'd be able to carry on the gimmick for
a whole slew of novels. Judging by what a few friends who have read
most of them have said, I was right.

* BTW, it was the Gandalf Award for best Fantasy Novel of the year,
and ASFC didn't win. The winner was THE WHITE DRAGON by Anne McCaffrey,
which also won the Hugo Award for Best Novel.

| Moving from Xanth to Death (the book that moved the author of this
note to request information) was a fantastic leap. Somewhere in the
middle of the Xanth series, Piers Anthony seemed to have either lost
interest or the thread, or both. But [4mOn a Pale Horse[0m redeems him all
over again.
Short review; but if anyone contradicts me I'll hook his/her soul...

| The second book, "Bearing an Hourglass", (lended to me by Johhny O.) is also
very good. Seems there will be at least three more (maybe five). The
characters are quite interesting and the situations leave something to be
pondered on...

| I know this is late in regards to the other notes, but Piers 'flippin'
Anthony really sank to new depths with this series.
The guy sold the same story over and over again, just from a different
characters perspective and the public kept buying them! Ye gods! I read
the first two and gave up on him. And to be quite honest, I haven't read
anything by Anthony since.

Try "For Love of Evil". It has, perhaps, the best characterization
Anthony has done. Also causes you to think about Good and Evil as shades of
gray.
