| 1274.1 | I have a ZIPped floppy for you! | BRSTR2::SYSMAN | Dirk Van de moortel | Mon Mar 24 1997 06:54 | 17 |
|  | re .0 and 2325.0 in DECPC_PORTABLES
Hi Kevin...
Has your problem been solved yet?
If not, I have a ZIP-file of a floppy that runs DOS 6.22 with LANMAN 3.0
and that can boot a Hinote I, II, or COMPAQ-laptop with a DEPCM-BA and that
makes a network connection to a NETBEUI-service on Pathworks, WIN-95 or
WIN-NT.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll send the ZIP-file to wherever
(VMS system) you want it.
Kind regards...
Dirk Van de moortel

| 1274.3 | file is on SCASS1::DEPCM.ZIP | BRSTR2::SYSMAN | Dirk Van de moortel | Tue Mar 25 1997 04:58 | 19 |
|  | re .2
The file has been copied to SCASS1::DEPCM.ZIP
How to proceed:
	1) Put a floppy in drive A: on a DOS 6.22 system with PKUNZIP.EXE
	2) c:
	3) format/s/u a:
	4) a:
	5) cd \
	6) pkunzip -do x:\depcm.zip
	7) boot your hinote with the floppy (DON'T write protect it!)
If you manage to make free more DOS memory, please let me know, because
sometimes we have acute memory shortage...
Good luck!

|  |     hi,

    I used your DEPCM.zip to build a temp network diskette for my Hinote

    The unzipping ran out of space during the unzip operation so had to
    delete some of the DOS utils. Which should be on the server hopefully
    anyway.

    Regards the insufficient memory I tried to increase more UMB's
    by using I=B000-B7FF but it didn't fix it

    Changed the \net\system.ini file preferred redir = basic

    now it boots and connects with no probs..

    hope it helps

    Cheers Peter  M

    Ps still waiting for an upgrade/fix/blast to fix my DEPCM-BA rev
    problem

| 1274.5 | remove a:\dbl*.* after the format | BRSTR2::SYSMAN | Dirk Van de moortel | Tue Mar 25 1997 11:38 | 21 |

Ha... forgot to mention that after the format/s you should:
	1) attrib -r -s -h a:\dbl*.*          (don't need no doublespace stuff)
	2) del a:\dbl*.*
Then you'll have plenty (ahem!) of space left (on a 1.44 Mb flop that is!)

Thanks for the tip, I'll try those when I have a laptop at hand...

    BTW, you can create Network Boot Floppy's by accessing the Network
    Administration applet on NT Server's. I don't think it can create
    one specifically for a DEPCM however you can easily edit the SYSTEM.INI
    and PROTOCOL.INI files to get it to work. Make sure the DEPCM.DOS
    file is also in that directory as well....
