| 1214.7 | DEPCM H/W Rev.B & C with V4.0 kit supports WNT4.0 | NETCAD::KWONG |  | Fri Feb 07 1997 17:31 | 16 |
|  |
    Hi,
    	Rev.A hardware (can be identified by the prodcut label on the back
    of the DEPCM card....FCC ID: HEDEN2212) was produced before WNT4.0
    release. It requires the card vendor ID to be reblasted. I have the
    blast utility. BUT, we have made a decision not to release it due to the
    danger of making the card unusable if task performed incorrectly.
    (send me mail if you want to try blast util.)

    Rev.B & Rev.C hardware supports WNT4.0 with S/W release V4.0 !!

    My reommendation is don't update to WNT4.0 or upgrade the hardware to
    B or C rev. (shown below the Ethernet Address of the product label)

| 1214.10 | BLAST from the Past | PGREEN::MURDOCHP |  | Wed Mar 26 1997 05:31 | 19 |
|  |     Hi,

    can anyone point me in the right direction for the BLAST software to
    make my DEPCM-BA become a REV-C. All other avenues of replacement
    are fruitless. Which is a shame since the product is advertised as
    having a 5 year warranty. I can;t get mine replaced/upgraded without
    it costing me money. I buy a new one.

    This will solve my problem and 20 other peoples future problems
    as we all have Hinotes with DEPCM-BA in them which were echanged
    by digital to fix their old Cards(IBM lookalikes).

    please can someone reply with some good news.

    Also please notify me on PGREEN::MURDOCHP

| 1214.11 | DEPCM Rev C does not work with NT V4 | ULYSSE::LEFOL |  | Thu Mar 27 1997 02:48 | 6 |
| | I upgraded my Hinote to NT V4. I confirm that the DEPCM Rev C does NOT
    work. The Xircom PS 2 does work.

    Another problem is the fact that there is no driver for the Hinote
    screen (Chips 65540) in the NT distribution. The consequence is that
    you cannot go above 16 colors.

| 1214.12 | REV A to Rev C via Blast Works | PGREEN::MURDOCHP |  | Thu Mar 27 1997 08:40 | 21 |
|  |     Hi,

    I used the Blast uitlity for my DEPCM-BA Rev A to upgrade it to a REV
    c and used the NT4 drivers

    now it all works great.

    Remember to do the upgrade of Blast using Win95 in a DOS box not
    booting a Dos622 diskette then running the Blast util.

    I am now seeing everything, Yes the Chips driver doesn't quite work
    but 16 is better than none. I think one of the other notes
    mentions a udate to the Chips problem..

    Cheer Peter Murdoch

    Ps Thanks to joe Kwong for the above.
