| | Good luck with your new farm - where abouts did you move to?

    The unofficial name of my place is Ledgebrook farm (hopefully no one
    else has this name already) "Ledge" for the 2 acre table under the
    pasture and arena and "Brook" for the river that runs through all of it
    in the spring.

    How about Painted Rock Farm, or I saw a farm in AZ called Bucket'o
    Paint Farm.  Have fun!

    But since my wife and I built our barn and got our horses
    home, my work is NEVER DONE!

    		Good Luck!

| 1836.3 | How to name a farm..:) | CSLALL::LCOBURN | Plan B Farm | Wed Dec 15 1993 14:49 | 9 |
| | When we bought our place 6 years ago, we could never agree on a
    'classy' sounding name. Then one day my sister-in-law was visiting,
    and commenting on how nice my (then) new ring was, and I said something
    to the effect of "Yes, it's small, Plan A was much bigger, but this
    is a good size for just our 2 horses". Thus, our small, 2 stall place
    became known as "Plan B Farm". Silly maybe, but it suits me. :-)

| 1836.4 | how about 2-tone | GRANMA::JWOOD |  | Wed Dec 15 1993 15:09 | 28 |
| | I'm having the same problem except we have lived at our place for
    almost 4 1/2 years now... and still haven't settled on a name...
    everytime we get close to a name, I change my mind. We live on Hawkins
    Creamery Road, across the road from Silver Crest Drive in a subdivision
    named Finlandia in a farmhouse with a stone front.

    Some of the names You could try:
    we have tried are:

    Wood-N-Horses                       "your name"-N-horses
    Finlandia Farm                      Finlandia Fjords
    Silver Crest Manor                  Stonewall Manor
    Silver Crest Farm                   Stonewall Farm
    Creamery Ridge Farm                 etc...
    Creamery Knoll Farm                 etc...
    Stonehome Stables                   etc...
    Woodcrest Manor                     etc...
    Edgewood Manor                      etc...
    Woodland Hills                      etc...
    Woodhill                            etc...

    Sorry, nothing works for me either, but I thought you would like to
    know that you are not alone in this quest for a name.

    If anyone has suggestions for me... ( be kind ;} ) I would like to get
    some ideas, too.

    Thanks.

| 1836.7 | Say it fast! | STOWOA::MCKEOWN |  | Wed Dec 15 1993 17:56 | 4 |
| | Since you have so many stones maybe it should be "Rock and Horse".

    (If you say it quickly you get it better!)

    	To reply .4:

    	About the farm name in Finlandia-area: I live in Finland (the real
    	one in Europe ; ) ) and could not be without giving one naming
    	idea: Finland is known of the midnight sun, that in midsummer never
    	goes down. What about the name 'Midnight Sun' or 'Midnight Rocky'
    	(the last one is a harness trotting horse - a pretty good one...)

    	Good luck, the idea of giving names to the farms sounds very
    	nice !

    	Regards,

    	Pivi

| | Midnight Sun was the name of one of the most famous Tenn. Walking
    horses. It might mislead people as to the breed of horse raised there.
    One of the neatest names I have seen is "Stone Broke Farm"!

    My farm name is: Copper Penny Farm

    My farm logo is a penny with a horsehead (quarterhorse,
    naturally! (8 ) on it.

    Why that name? Well, my maiden name is Penney, and someone once
    told me that I should have been called Copper, then I would be
    Copper Penney. I thought it was a neat sounding name, so.......

    May I suggest "Stonelake Farm" as a name for your place?

| 1836.11 | any Marx Bros. fans? | ANGLIN::DUNTON |  | Thu Dec 16 1993 14:19 | 6 |
| | Regarding racehorse names... here's one that can't be confused with a
    particular horse because I don't think it really exists. It comes from
    a Marx Brothers movie "A Day at the Races"... Sun-up! (Sun-up farms? I
    dunno). High Hat was another one from that movie. My sister made me
    promise to name my next horse one of these two names. If I had a farm
    maybe it could be High Hat Acres...: )

    I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't think of a name for
    our farm. It seems all the good ones are taken. The only
    thing at our farm that stand out is all our bad luck! We have
    had things happend to us and our horses that no one has ever had
    done before... so we came up with 2

    	Sucide Stables & Unstable Stables

    They really seem to fit us, but some day when we become succussful
    we'd never be alot to use those names.. I think'd they'd scare
    off the potential customers :-)

| 1836.13 | How about Rockaway Stables... see note | GRANMA::JWOOD |  | Fri Dec 17 1993 10:25 | 13 |
|  |     Louisa,

    The road to success is sometimes filled with rocks. Maybe instead of
    being unstable, your road to success has been a little rocky.

    How about Rocky Way Stables?... or to smooth it out a little, Rockaway
    Stables. That way it looks good, but you can pronounce it the way it
    really is.

    Got any ideas for me?

    Jw, thanks for the ideas.. I love the Rocky Way Stables name!

    I also love a name you have allready chosen for yourself.
    Wood-n-Horse .. I think that is perfect.

    Thanks again

| | I just remembered another one. My friends dad helped her build her
    first barn, and when it was finished, he stood back and said" It isn't
    perfect, but it's pretty close". So she named her place "Pretty Close
    Stables"!

| | Well, I guess we're not alone w/ an unnamed farm....nice to know we
    have company. Some good ideas too, but I don't want to make any quick
    decisions....
