Does anyone know what the rules for barrel racing are?
What I am interested in, is can you use an endurance
saddle - english. I ride english, I own a quarter horse
that I am riding english at the moment, but he turns on
a dime, am thinking of trying him out in barrel racing.
But I am hooked on english, and don't know if i could
    get into western style.

do you have to barrel race western style? (dumb question
    i know....but thought i'd get some input)

    thanks...jane

| The rules say western but there are many different styles within
western saddles. I ride with a dressage saddle most of the time, but to
join my friends at game shows I got a "equitation seat" saddle. Even my
dressage teacher rode in it and admitted that it did not interfere with
a correct balanced postion in any way. The horse does not care what he
is wearing as long as it fits properly, so why not give barrels a try?
Then there is egg-n-spoon, keyhole race, down-n-back, and spear the
    ring!

Look and ask around at tack or feed stores for a Gymkhana club.
I have 2 in my area (Southeastern MA), and I know they are all over.....

| There are several shows/clubs in NH that have Gymkhana only shows.
I don't know what there rules are regarding barrel racing.

N-Bar-H in Barrington, NH has 4 Gymkhana shows a year and Triple R I
    think is in Grafton, NH.
