    I am having some problems with my mare.  She is showing strong signs
    of heat and is teasing not only a gelding, but also a filly.  Since
    neither one can do anything for her she turns on them and is very
    aggressive.  When she is teasing the gelding she is urinating and
    has a very foul odor to this.  She is going into the heat, and stays
    in heat for almost a week, then she is O.K. for about 2 weeks and
    then it starts all over again.  In the meantime, she is extremely
    aggressive, and she will chase down anyone that tries to get there
    horse.
    
    Since I am full boarding her, the lady that sees more of her than
    I do has commented to me how concerned she is about the mare.  Since
    she sees Roza more than I do at the moment, I am taking her word
    on most of what I have written here.  This lady is concerned that
    perhaps Roza has some type of infection since she is acting so
    crazily this time of year.  Roza did have a foal this past April.
    Could there be an infection.  I am having the vet out to check on
    her tomorrow, but would appreciate any comments on what may be 
    happening here.

	I wouldn't worry unless there is something visably wrong with the discharge. It might be one of those wierd years since half of our mares are showing strong estrus where nomally they would be showing light signs or none at all. I wonder if anyone else is seeing something similar. The aggresiveness is pretty normal for any mare and is more of an inconvenience than anything else. 	re: .1 I have one, too, Bob. My two-year-old is driving Back Bey nuts! And, if her mother wasn't pregnant, I'm sure she'd be just as bad! I wonder if the weather might have anything to do with it. It's been pretty warm for November and December. What do you think? Gwen

	Well the vet was out today and did check her and of course there was nothing serious wrong with her. Just a large follicle. It is a shame that it is the wrong time of year, this would probably be a good time to breed her. The vet did an ultrasound just to make sure that the follicle was the only thing to be found. I am really glad that there was nothing more serious, and we will just have to live with the aggressiveness. Thanks, Sarah

	And..... it's not just the arabs out there... my two morgan mares have been nothing short of disgusting the last two months... Hope this snow sets them straight!!! My weanling (9 mo) colt is not pleased with their obnoxious behavior.

	if you have problems with the heat cycle... my trainer recommended my mare goin on a shot, thats given for 4 days or something... it like a birth control pill. we were looking at using it, because during show season she was so studdy. she wasnt dangerous just a real pain. anyway i decided 3 hours of work is cheaper..... haha ;^)

	Sarah... From your note I am assuming that you use Dr. Gill. He is very good in this area and we have used him for years. I am glad he got to you yesterday...I cancelled and will try again next Tuesday. We should get together for a ride sometime...I believe we are about five minutes away from each other.

	RE .7 Yes, I believe we are about 5 minutes away from each other. I would love to get together and meet you and also go for a ride. If the weather isn't too bad this weekend, I'll try to ride by and at least talk to you. Hope you have better luck next Tuesday. I do like Dr. Gill very much. 	Gwen, I think it does have something to do with the weather, but I have noticed that all of the mares have showed much stronger heats than they have in past years. All except for a leased mare which is out to be bred to Aristo Cadillac.

	Bob, I'm glad to know that it's not just my two "tramps". Gracie is pregnant but it doesn't keep her from saying "Hi, big boy!"
