About a year and a half ago I got a Shimano 6-speed RX100 rear deraileur from
Chemlsford Cyclery, Chemlsford MA. I don't know if they're still available.

| | Mike,
You might try Loose Screws. They are at 503-488-4800. It looks like they
have 6 speed 600EX or Dura-Ace indexing lever "guts" for $37-40. Hard to say
which parts are included from the drawing in the catalog. (I'm assuming your
problem is with the shifter indexing rather than the rear derailleur.)
Happy hunting!

| | Upgrade to a 7spd freewheel. It should work (fit) with your frame.

| | The frame might fit, but the Hub might not. There are 6sp shifters and
parts around. Any deraileur will work with either 6 or 7sp. The
shifters are the component that needs to match the freewheel. Shimano
does not market freewheels any more, but the companies that made
freewheels for Shimano do. Same with the 6sp thunb shifters, and
    Gripshift makes a 6sp shifter.

| | The chances of a hib not working out are very slim. You'd have to have
something old non-mainstream. If you have Shimano now it shouln't be
a problem. The number of threads are the same...

The problem with Shimano (was) is that most of the stuff, especially
low-end, was not designed to be serviceable, but throw-away.
Subsequently, replacement parts for stuff like that were (are) nearly
impossible. Most dealers keep some (good) junk around from replacing
    parts.

    Hi Dave & Merry Christmas!
