3029.0. "What to do with old bikes?" by ROCK::FEASTER (Bill...225-6259...HLO2-3/C11) Thu Oct 12 1995 21:06
I am about to move, and have an old, damaged bike that needs a new set
of forks, but is otherwise in fairly good shape. Does anybody know of
organizations that fix up bikes to give to disadvantaged people? I saw
one note in here for a group at Fort Devens, but that was from 1991. I
have also heard of an organization called, I believe, "Bikes not
Bombs", which sends bikes to Central America, but I don't have a phone
number or an address. Any help would be appreciated.

| | There is a note in here on Bikes Not Bombs someplace. Its a reply to a
similar type question from earlier this year.

| | You might also try your local Lions chapter. They collect bikes
to repair and sell for charitable donations. I've never done this
    but I see them advertising localy(Wilmington, Ma.)often.
