| | Sorry folks I just have to but in. (ie hit next unseen now).

Have you colonials got any idea how confusing it is for us limeys to
have to go to New England ? Here am I 30 years resident in the UK and
I know that Manchester is a big manufacturing city somewhere `oop
north'. Now to get from there to Reading you go south. Likewise from
Reading to (say) Aylsebury is a quick spin round the M25. Shrewsbury
is sleepy town in the North of west country.

Then we get to NE. It's *really* diificult not to try to apply the
geography of back home to getting around there. Result I get
hopelessly lost (mind you there are lways lots of cordial,
lane-respecting Mass. drivers to put me right).

Take this case. Manchester to Manchster 150. Sounds nice. I don't
know the area but we should be talking of a good stretch in the
penines, maybe over Holm Moss. Now I discover it's to a place called
`Macnhester by the sea' !. Sheez, next thing you'll be telling me that
Boston isn't a small market town in Lincs with two road races a year
and about 100 miles from Cambridge !

| | Well, I was thinking of Manchester, Connecticut, when I asked the
question. That would have made the ride interesting anyway, about
    150 a day or so.

Why go to Texas when we New Englanders have only to go to Maine.
