RAAM Plans
Look for some changes in Race Across AMerica (RAAM), our
continent's longest race. New race director Michael Shermer,
a competitor in the original RAAM and 5-time participant,
says that by '95 you can expect a Canadian version and an
Alaska-to-San Diego race. In '96, he'd like the RAAM finish
to be in Atlanta during the Olympic Games. "We're trying to
keep ultramarathon riding fresh and open it to more people,"
says Shermer. "I've got some other things up my sleeve to
get this race into the next century."

RAAM Wants You
With no qualifying standards to meet, 4-person squads are being
urged to form for this summer's Race Across AMerica. The team
race begins August 1 in Irvine, CA, with most entries expected
to reach the finish in Savannah, GA, the following weekend.
"With four riders involved, , the organizational and fund raising
work is cut into quartetrs," says Team RAAM directory Chris
Kostman. "You don't have to put in megamiles to prepare, either.
Each person usually rides only onee or two hours at a time."

| 2496.2 | Update on Wayne Agee | LJOHUB::CRITZ | Wed May 05 1993 16:06 | 12 | |
I just returned from vacation last week. While in North
Carolina, I saw Wayne Agee, a friend who also crewed for
John Lee Ellis in 1991.
Wayne works for IBM, and is going to take the package. That
means that his plans for this year's RAAM are up in the air.
If he gets some corporate money, he should be able to race.
If not, he'll probably not race.
He's still training and talking about going.
