potential bike routes, evironmental impact report and Nov 12 public hearing
for Route 146/Massachusetts Turnpike Interchange Project
4. Input from community representatives and interest groups.
Sponsored by the DEM division of Resource Conservation, in conjunction with the
Massachusetts Highway Dept., Central Mass Regional Planning Commission, City of
Wocester Office of Planning and Community Development, and the Blackstone River
Valley National Heritage Corridor Commission.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management (DEM) and the
Massachusetts Highway Department (MHD) have completed an Interagency
Agreement to work together to plan a portion of the Blackstone River
Valley National Heritage Corridor bikeway. a $53,000 study will be
funded primarily with the Federal Highway Administration money, and the
study will look at, with input from the community and cycling advocates,
what type of bikeway to build and where. A bikeway along route 146 has
been planned as part to the original Blackstone River Valley National
Heritage Corridor Plan. The study will be conducted primarily by DEM.
