     I hate to be the one to break it to you guys, but you are sadly
    misinformed. 45o is not spring time it's WINTER -*)
    
     It was 72o here in Atlanta yesterday, but alas I didn't ride at lunch
    or at all (outside) since neither Trek, Shimano, or even Campy makes a
    scope rack for a bicycle.

    Ed's latest century, in fact, was in the 40's all day (unless
    he's been sneaking more in).  We all sported quite a ruddy glow,
    so it must've been warm, nicht?

     72o is a good night time temp. 45o is good for beer.
     
     Though 72o is unseasonable for Atlanta this time of year, this weekend
    temps should be normal which is in the 50's during the day. 
    
    
    
    

    We managed 16 miles through the back roads up to Woodchuck Hill and back
    to LKG today at noon. Come on, there MUST BE others at LKG or TAY who
    could join in. Any takers?
    
    Remember, in just a little over two months it'll be March and those
    little brats on the BMX bikes will be passing you on the hills. Don't
    you HATE IT when they do that -- they see you coming, huffin' and
    puffin' and then WIZZZZZ -- they come out of the driveway, stand up,
    and fly by you up the hill, with those little legs spinning about 250
    r.p.m., or so it seems. Then they stop at the top of the hill and turn
    around and look at you, as if to say, "what's keepin' ya, mista?"

    It was lycra-shorts weather today here.  Did some good miles,
    practiced some spinning, about 102km all tolled.
    
    I was in LKG on Monday and Tuesday ... and enjoyed the fresh snow  :-)
    ... but I didn't bring my bike!  I gather today was balmier?

Just a nit, but March is only 27 days or so away.  :)

Congratulations on getting the Littleton folks out and rolling!  That's great.
"Bat" Buchanan, wldwst::pollard and I are getting out at lunch regularly. 
Yesterday was a nice ride through Stevens Canyon.  Pollard and I have gotten 
in our first crits of the year; Bat is holding out. 

We'll join you in spirit for your lunch time rides.....only three hours later.

    
     Since spring has sprung and sweat is pouring into everybody's Oakley's
    I'd like to know if anyone has tried the sweat band that supposed wick
    sweat down your back, the one thats advertised in the back of cycling
    mags. Does it work? how about comfort?

    Oh, yeah, I was thinking ... oh never mind - it was those kids on the
    BMX bikes that I was really worried about...
    
    We got snowed on so it was back to the trainer over the weekend but it
    looks good towards the end of the week - temps in the 40's, etc.

    	there's no shoulder, and when it gets warm, there's water
    	everywhere. And, lurking below the water:
    
    	big, deep potholes.
    
    	A couple of us went up Tophet Chasm XC skiing yesterday
    	during lunch. Had fun, but with 45 degree temperatures,
    	we were sweating like pigs.

Just a thought......pigs don't sweat.  Have fun skiing anyway. ;)

    And let's not bad-mouth those BMX kids too much.  I'll bet that most of
    the top American racers comming up in the 90's will have cut their
    teeth in BMX racing.

    My wife has already told me she doesn't want our son to play football. 
    OK, how about BMX racing, much safer, right?  

    My daughter is breaking my heart.  Every time we go walking on the block
    I say "Why don't you ride your tricycle"?  "I don't want to".  Can this
    really be my kid?  Well she kind of LOOKS like me...

    	Anyway, too many potholes and no place to bail out
    	when some twisted driver tries to make me a unique
    	hood ornament.
    
    	BTW, just saw the new bike at lunch. I'd probably have
    	it at home now, but my furnace went out and that expense
    	had to come first. By the time I get the new bike home,
    	the roads should be rideable (is rideable a word 8-)> ).

    Where's you sense of adventure? I ride an old bike, with mudguards
    (what an invention!). My riding style is "aggressively defensive" - I
    wear bright colors and position myself on the road so I'm visible to
    the drivers and I don't have to swerve at the last minute to avoid
    potholes, parked cars, etc. This means that I may not aways be hugging
    the shoulder, but I've found that isn't what really bugs drivers - they
    freak out when you ride a weavy line. I've chosen routes that either
    have low traffic volume or are nice and wide. When the road ahead looks
    questionable, I stop! 
    
    I'm out to have a good time, and get some exercise, not win a race.

    	The last time I asked for adventure, I ended up in
    	Vietnam with a Marine infantry company.
    
    	Well, as I mentioned, I have a new bike coming, so I
    	do have a second bike that I can ride in this weather.
    
    	Tophet Chasm is behind Very Fine. Head down the little
    	road with Miller's gas station on your right and the
    	Post Office on your left. The sign for Tophet Chasm will
    	be just ahead on your right.

    Thanks for the info -  we rode past that spot the other day! I recall a
    little side road there, I think (must of been going so fast I missed
    the sign, of course). It's a beautiful piece of country out there,
    isn't it?

    	Very pretty. We had a lot of fun. This humongous
    	husky went with us and tried to eat our skiis, poles,
    	whatever.
    
    	Just before we stopped, I fell and banged my left
    	knee very hard, although it seems fine today.
    
    	I guess I'd better learn to turn and slow down
    	better.
    
    	With the temperatures today and tomorrow, probably
    	won't be much snow left by the weekend.

    It's getting to be racing season now and it's time to get into some
    serious riding. Thursday nights are going to be Interval Training
    Night for me. 
    
    Anyone interested in meeting after work to do intervals? 
    
    I thought route 110, between Westboro and Chelmsford, would be a good,
    well-paved road to train on. Also, there's Littleton Rd. in Harvard. 
    Any other thoughts?
