The best time to buy a bike is NOW. The '88's are coming in and
you're sure to get a break on an '87. Shops are gearing up for the
holiday rush and could use some extra sales to bolster the inventory.

The Bianchi Limited is a pretty nice sport bike. In Boston, see
Jim at Laughing Alley in Allston, you can mention my name. On the
south shore, see Bill at Corner Cycle. I used to race for them.

| | I found that the best time to buy a new bike is around March-May.
This is when the new years models are arriving, and you can get
a really good deal on the previous year's model. This years Limited
is a beautiful "METALLIC CELESTE", (I know because I bought one
this year), and it is really a nice bike. The retail this year
was about $750, and in April, the 1986 model of the Limited was
about $650. So, it is quite a savings to wait until the new models
    come out in the spring.

I have to agree here, but be aware that there's no certainty that there will
be a reasonable selection of good bikes in your size that late. You may wait
all Winter just to find out that there aren't any left in the Spring. Then
you end up buying a brand new '87 for top dollar.
I kind of like the time suggested in .1 (do I sound like someone who is
interested in another bike? I have no idea why that is.)

| | Reports I've heard are that the bike industry has had a record year
so far. Some equipment could be in shorter supply. Sales may be
less existant except for leftover stock (non SIS bikes).

My advise is to establish a relationship now with a dealer you
know and trust, then you can get a better idea when to buy.
