Hi There ,
Can someone please clarify very simply the MAX number of ELANs that can be
supported on our GIGAswitch/ATM with V2.1.3 ( current ) , V2.1.1 and V1.4.5 .
It seems to me that we have conflicting information that causing us some
concerns.
The Rel Notes for V1.4.5 page 15 states : Up to 255 ELANs are allowed, but you
might run out of memory..... I have a customer with 3 x DAGGL-AAs ( REV 1.5 )
with ver 1.4.5 that says he could NOT create more then 12 ELANs !!!! .
In the Management manual June '96 page 5-12, in the elan number..... it says
between 1-255 .
I have also seen a document that says that the limitations are with the CBR
point to multipoint VCs that we support - 32 only that gives us a MAX of 16
ELANs ( since 2 point to multipoint CBR VCs required for each ELAN )......
I have also seen the support for 65 ELANs, in FEB release.
Can someone with this KNOWLEDGE please clarify this for us all !!!!

The answer is you can specify up to 255 ELANs for the LECS, and can have
up to 99 LES and 99 BUS. But only 24 Servers (excluding the LECS) can be
enabled at any one time.
