Hi,

I'm having problems getting LANE to work from a ATM750 to a Cisco CAT5000.
The CAT5000 is the LECS, LES and the BUS, it is also a LEC. 
I use the following commands to bring up the ELAN, which has a name of "one". 
Also it is d-unix V4.0b.


atmconfig up driver=lta0
atmsig up driver=lta0 wait
atmelan create driver=lta0 name=one
ifconfig elan0 204.228.67.202 netmask 255.255.255.0


After I bring up the signaling, every 20 seconds I get the following message:

ATM LANE - Connection Released, Cause 16
VC Released on interface had : Source address

Also, when looking at atmelan show, I only see a LES and not a BUS and the 
LANE is in a S_JOIN_WAIT state. Below is the output from the atmelan show:

	One possible cause for this behavior is a signalling version mismatch. If the LES is speaking UNI 3.1, try configuring the Digital UNIX host for UNI 3.1 by executing the command: atmsig version driver=lta0 uni=3.1 before doing the: atmsig up driver=lta0 wait I've seen problems where a switch incorrectly translates signalling messages between a UNI 3.1 port and a UNI 3.0 port. If that doesn't help, I'd like to see the signalling traces. /gary

	The host is repeatedly connecting to the LECS. It is connecting successfully, so I would assume there is something wrong with the configuration data coming back. Is the named ELAN actually configured on that LECS? Is the LECS configuration complete (like maybe the BUS address is missing?). Are there any other systems operating through that LECS/LES/BUS combination? /gary

Yes the named elan is "one", they showed it to me when looking at the configuration of the CAT5000. It also showed a BUS address, but it was different than the LECS and the LES. No other systems are running at this time. This is the first one we tried to configure. The second system is using a ATM350 and we had problems with the 2100 recognizing the device. I gave the advice to the customer that you gave in note 879, we'll see if we can get it up and then try the same with it. Brad
