Hi Laurent

Since no one is answering your note, (could be because no one has the
experience of such a large network), I can only state my own experience from
the largest ATM installation to date, which is Guildford College in the UK.
We had 500 pc's using 6 DS400's and 8 ATM connected servers, plus about 100
Novel pc's and 6 Novel servers. One flat IP network, mostly MS Office
applications. It works fine. But it was difficult to determin scaleability. I
checked the network utilisation NT servers and this was about 10%. I checked
individual ethernet links with a probe, (most were on thinwire), again there
was only about 20% utilisation. What I needed was an ATM network performance
monitoring system. This installation has been working for four months with no
problems.

Regards John Layland

ps I asked the same questions before the installation, most answers came from
engineering and were concerned with broadcast/multicast.
