Hi there,
This is sort of a naive question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
I have an NT-based SMTP server on a LAN, and a bunch of client machines
running Pegasus (a POP3 client like Eudora). I want to add a Linux
system onto this network, but what software would I use that would be
the equivalent of Pegasus? I have a copy of the Slackware 3.0
distribution.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

I personally like PINE, it has a nice menu driven interface for the
character cell screen. It will work in an XTERM under xwindows. I can't
reccommend any X clients, sorry.
Use a slackware distribution and install the mail components of the
network install kit.

PINE, ELM, MH (and derivatives, like xmh and exmh), popclient, and
Netscape, among others, are all available on Linux, and I believe that
all handle POP. All of these, except for exmh and Netscape, are
included in the Slackware distribution, as I recall. If you dual-boot
your Linux machine, it may be possible to share Netscape mailboxes
between Linux and MS Windows[x]. Since those mailboxes are also in
standard UNIX format, you may also be able to share them with other
clients that use that format. However, I haven't actually tried any of
that yet.
