I've recently bought a Thule roof-rack from Halfords, and a fitting kit
for my Citroen ZX. I think the roofrack was a Thule 451.
The fitting kit could definitely be bought seperately (for �19.95), so
I think the Halfords you tried could be giving you wrong info.

| Thanks for your replies.
I called Theule and they said that Halfords are correct. However they
told me a company called Snowchains (0732 884408 ask for Tim or John)
will do part exchange on roof racks. I called them they told me a roof
rack for a Calibra is �99.95 and they would give me �45 for mine,
therefor I have to find �55 + p&p. I'm considering the next move as she
who must be obeyed is questioning the need for a roof rack anyway.
Perhaps we ought to have a Digital roof rack exchange programme?

| good idea,
I *made my roofrack brackets fit my Cavalier (same as Calibra ?).
*Take the gutter brackets, flatten them with a hammer, sleeve them with
cycle inner tube & buy 4 metric bolts from a hardware store (Drews,
Reading), cut bolts to length.

Thanks for the info, the Calibra is not the same as the Cavalier.
The Calibra has covers in the roof that when slid back reveal a
bit of angled steel that the rack clamps to. I am considering machining
some bits of steel and doing a Meccano job on the old roof rack.
