|  | Hi,
What country is it for?
Why haven't you looked at the Toyota Previa or Renault Espace?
Mark.

    RE: .-1

    We are in Germany.

    We were trying to stay in the <35K DM range, if possible.

    Toyota Previa - too expensive (>45K DM)
                    4 month wait time (we were told this at one dealer)

    Renault Espace - too expensive (>45K DM)
                   - not sure of the maintenance history of Renault
                   - space is gained with the removal of seats
                     (where do you put them?)

                     found a used one (~70K miles, 3 years old) for 27K DM
                     I am interested, but my partner thinks we are giving
                     up the best years of it's life

    Let me know if you think we should reconsider the price.

| 1924.4 | Go for the ESPACE | ZPOVC::GGLOH | Singapore | Thu Oct 22 1992 18:04 | 5 |
| | There are also Nissan Serena and Mitsubishi Spacewagon.

    I'm going for an ESPACE. I would love to have the 2.9 V6 engine in it
    but I can only fford the 2.0 version. And even that will cost me
    S$113K.

| | I thought the Espace was way too expensive, mind you like all such
    vehicles (including large estates), it holds its price very well. I
    think, however, that if that's your chioce of vehicle type, I'd suggest
    a Discovery.

| 1924.6 | Bedford Midi. | SUBURB::JASPERT |  | Fri Oct 23 1992 13:33 | 6 |
| | I borrowed a Bedford Midi (sorry, dont know the Opel equivalent .0)
    to do the Boulogne booze-cruise, & found that the luggage space was
    MASSIVE. I removed the 4th row of seats to increase the load capacity.
    It was very van-like to drive, when empty the ride was harsh. The
    return leg, of course, it was nicely ballasted & much smoother.
    Best feature : S-P-A-C-E.

| | Before you buy an Espace, i'd drive it. We hired one to go to Munich in, and it
was quite a suprise to feel it 'snaking' along the motorway. Safe or not? I don't
know, it just felt uncomfortable.
Best of Luck,
					Lewis.

| 1924.8 | Espace? - No problems | CASEE::MERRICK | Sliding down the razorblade of life | Mon Oct 26 1992 16:01 | 6 |
| | I've had an Espace Quadra for about 18 months now - I've used it to
    drive to Munich and Milan a few times and had no problems on the
    motorway - certainly no 'snaking' feeling even with the Mistral or Sirocco
    blowing.

| | .10 has it. It's a very nice vehicle. For me personally though, given
    the use we put to a car, it was too slow, and too thirsty (even the
    tdi). We do a lot of motorway driving, to and from UK and Belgium, and
    Brussels driving requires a fair bit of "snap". However, of the
    currently available 7-seaters, I think it's the best. With three
    children, seven seats is a "nice-to-have", rather than a requirement,
    which good shoulder room in the back, and large boot space are.

    When I first saw the Discovery, I was very impressed. However, when I
    travelled in one a few months old the fit and finish looked very poor.

    This was, however, on early models so the build quality may have
    improved since then.

| | I also have the opportunity to take a good look at the Discovery at the
    Singapore Motor Show. I was impressed too.

    The model on display was the 3.5l V8 with two extra sfor carrying up to
    to 7 people.
