1547.0. "Rental suggestion" by SELECT::SHAUGHNESSY () Wed Sep 11 1991 20:20

Well, after some research, I've found the following four cars for roughly
 the same price rental:

  Ford Escort (most expensive)
  Volkswagon Golf
  Opal Kadett
  Puegot 309 (least expensive)

Does anyone feel there is a standout or are they relatively the same? I
will be putting a fairly high number of highway/autobahn kilometers on
 the car.

 Thanks,

    Jay

You really need to know what model's they are to make a descision.

VW Golf's are fine solid cars, but anything less than a GTi feels
       underpowered.

The Kadette would be my second choice to the Golf.

       I've never driven a Peugeot 309 so can't comment. It's the most
boring looking car in the set, though I'd suspect it would be the
       most enjoyable to drive.

They'd have to pay me to take the Escort.

Thank you sir, I'll go with the Golf because the company (National)
also has kadetts in the same class. If they are out of Golfs then
 I'll get the Kadett.

FYI: 10 day rental, with 25% tax included, unlimited distance,
pick-up/drop-off in Brussels; best rate is about 30 dollars a day.
       (or about 1,075 belgian francs)

This assumes 2 day advance reservation, FROM the U.S.
