| 1113.3 | Same problem on my RS ...... | UKCSSE::BATTARBEE | JOHN BATTARBEE | Fri Jun 15 1990 08:32 | 14 |
| | I have an RS TURBO and suffered the same problem during the last HOT
spell of weather a few weeks back. I took it to my local FORD dealer
    who stated ....

Theres nothing wrong with it sir, and it wont let you down !! We will
of course replace it, but it will only do it again. He also stated that
ALL fuel pumps are now being mounted << INSIDE >> the fuel tank on all
injection and Turbo models, but didnt know why.

Since the last spell of hot weather I have not experienced this high
pitched Buzzing noise .... so my advice is .... Forget it and dont
waste time and money getting it replaced.

Happens alot on VW air_cooled Beetles, and Porsche 911's for some
    reason.

I forgot to say how to cure it whemn it happens!,

The best thing that worked was when it happened to a friend of mine in
a high street once after a long stop/start journey on a hot day. He
calmly pushed the car to the side of the road, nipped into a
supermarket, bought a bag of frozen peas, and then applied said packet
to the fuel pump, taking care not to melt the packet. This then cooled
the pump down, and after 15 mins the car started again. He told me that
he got alot of strange looks standong there holding this bag onto the
    engine of a Beetle!

NB I am told that half a grapefruit works just as well!

| | Hello ,
My brother got once the same noisy fuel pump problem on a OPEL GSE.
He did the same mistake and replaced it.... same problem , then he
asked me and I just recomended him to replace the FUEL FILTER which is
fit somewhere between the pump and the injection device ...
    The problem disapeared.

Try it if they did not replace the filter first.
    Let me know bye bye
    SERGE.
