I am thinking about getting the Astra GTE 2.0i convertible, but
having read the various notes on this conference concerning Astras,
I'm slightly put off!
Since most of the notes were written Vauxhall have made some
improvements, so I hope that someone out there can give me their
impressions of the 1989 GTE hard or softtop. I have test driven
the GTE, GTi and CTi convertibles, and prefered the GTE, but I know
nothing about cars and generally go on what they look like! So any
advise would be most welcome!
I shall look forward to hearing from you all
Caroline

Hello,
I have only just found this notes file on cars - and have been browsing
through it...I have seen a lot about the handling and performance
of the GTE.. I must admit a lot of the comments that people had made
about these cars weren't very good, which surprised me a bit.
As I've saved for the last two years to get my "Roof Down" version
and I think its a real cracker and certainly was worth waiting for..
With the reliability factor and petrol consumption far better than
my previous car (MG maestro).. I cannot fault it !!
Anyway I'll stop blabbering and get to the point - Are the headlamp
lenses on astras all the same.. ? It's just I have got to buy a new
lense for mine and I dread thinking how much money a new one is going
to be...(Incidently this is the only bad thing with the car - the
pricing for spare bits really do burn a hole in your wallet..)
P.s.... The insurance is also a wallet burner as I'm only 21.
Thanks for any advice
Jonathan (A dedicated astra GTE worshipper)
