I've had an Astra SRi on order for 17 weeks now (18 weeks quoted), and
there's no sign of the thing yet. I reckon this is an unreasonably long
time, especially as I'll take any colour offered (although I did
ask for a tilt-adjustable steering column). I know that the Cavalier
has been covered on a similar basis in a recent note, but the Cavalier
is a brand new model. Now, my questions:

    (1) Has anyone recently taken delivery of a Vauxhall Astra as a
lease car, and if so, how long did you have to wait?

    (2) Do lease cars often take the full delivery time, or sometimes
even longer? If so, is it usual for them to take MUCH longer than
    the estimated time?

Anyone any suggestions as to how I might speed up delivery at this
stage? Any help would be appreciated: if Vauxhall can't deliver a
(nearly) standard car in any colour within five months, there's
    something badly wrong.

How about this for a set of quotes. Please bear in mind that there
isonly one type of DX and one type of EL (the EFI will eventually
    replace the EL).

| These do appear to be a bit strange as both quotes for the EL are for
the same model with the same 'extras'.

Maybe it all relates to an article I read in the press at the weekend.
Because of current high interest rates the price of second hand cars is
dropping. Leasing companies made their cash flow projections on
residual values a lot higher than they are currently getting when they
flog end of lease cars. The prediction is that a number of leasing
companies will soon go out of business. Perhaps these quotes are an
indication of PHH/Hertz passing on the cost to the consumer ??

| All four quotes have no extras. They stem from the two quote requests I put in. One for a DX and one for an EL. They were both rejected, by hertz I think, because they did not classify the car as a saloon, but as an estate. (I ticked saloon on the quote form). I fact I would say it is neither. I spoke to car fleet and they sent the quotes back in as estate vehicles. That is were the two sets of quotes came from. Yesturday I got a mail from Car Fleet telling me that the injection model (EFI) was very difficult to get hold of and wouel I like to have it re-quoted. Needles to say I never asked for a quote on the EFI, but said yes to having it re-quoted. Simon. | |||||
