| | Ok, it's not brakes, it's not pipes and it's not in the Basingstoke
    area, but....

Does anyone know if Aeroquip hoses are available for water hoses
as well as oil/fuel? I ask as I've got a water hose which is buried
beneath the exhaust manifold and as the heads are off I'd like to
replace this pipe with something permanent while I have the chance.
Also I have a radiator bottom hose which rests against the exhaust and
is melting away, something which a braided hose may prevent (or at
least, improve). Am I right in thinking you can get braiding which
will slip over a normal rubber radiator hose? This would do, I guess.

If so does anyone know of anywhere in the Newbury, Basingstoke (worked
back to the base note somehow), Guildford, Reading, etc areas which
stock them? I know of Autocross (is it?) in Bracknell.

You can definitely get this stuff, but I don't know of a local source.

Besides Autocross, if you want to get further out of the way, you could
try Avonbar, who are at Addlestone (near Weybridge). They may be able
to help you (even though you don't have a Mini or a Metro).

Beware of 'cheap' braided hoses - I thought I'd get away with using the
cheaper stuff on the Landy, since I wasn't looking for 'race spec' -
but the braiding is quite loose, and I found it very difficult to
persuade it into the end fittings.... The hose itself is probably OK,
but I was left wondering about the durability of the connections.

We usually get our stuff from Merlin Motorsport - (Castle Coombe Race
circuit) I know it's a long way, but they do mail order, which I've
always found to be very reliable, and they are very knowledgeable about
all the stuf they sell. They are very happy to give advice over the phone.
